K so I was checking my Yahoo! mail and saw this article. Apparently the Pentagon had ruled that homosexuality was a mental disorder, and wouldn't let homosexuals into the army. .. . . oooookay, I can understand marriage somewhat, but not letting them in the army? That's just kinda retarded. I was reading on, and saw this :: "the policy allows homosexuals to serve in the armed forces only if they do not reveal their sexual orientation and abstain from gay secks.". . . okay, that's kinda like saying that you couldn't say you were a Catholic to someone who was Protestant (not that homosexuality is a religion but for comparison sake). And not having secks? I thought that was a rule in the army anyway; unless men and women can have straight secks but men and women can't have gay secks .. if that's what it is, that's just unfair and wrong. :\ Towards the bottom, this guy named Ralls commented, and I agree with him --> ""There is no good reason for keeping the ban in place and there's every good reason for repealing it," Ralls said. "It's discriminatory and robbing the military of talented men and women who want to serve. It's unnecessary. We've seen bans lifted among our closest allies. In Iraq and Afghanistan, Americans are serving alongside openly gay British troops.""Why CAN'T we let gays in the army? If they want to fight and serve their country, let them? It's unfair. I think America gets an F on this test. What do you guys think? ): DISCUSSIONS R FUN.

I agree 100%, Why the government would rob our military strength of a number of men beacuse they have a "disabilty" as such is uttery stupid in my opnion...
Ahem, If these mean are to be discharged from active service, I beleave ther are a few "Others" who should lose their position, Starting with the first "gay protester" in the army...
Why should they be discharged just beacuse of a diffrent pschyological personality? Men have went into war with one leg blow off, and yet THIS is a disability?
I TRULY find that hard to beleave...
Update: Happy Birthday Julie !

I think it's just because some people feel uncomfortable in those situations... I don't see why it's so bad that they can't tell anyone that they are gay. ; It's not hurting anyone.

XD No No.. I meant like... why are they mad that the army wants to keep a "don't ask, don't tell" policy? I mean... I'm not trying to be offensive at all or anything... but some people feel uncomfortable in those situations (being asked those questions and such) so I think it's better if they keep the policy.. to avoid those kinds of things.. and really.. "don't ask, don't tell" doesn't hurt anyone.

I like the dont ask dont tell policy because then its just like- well what no one knows wont hurt them an then no harm done (like Anto says) but I think the problem is once they find out they are gay- by accident or otherwise, and then get kicked out of the army. . . or cant come back or cant serve at all because they are gay. Thats the unfair part.

I don't really know what I want to believe. 0_o; I just think it's un-fair period that gays aren't allowed in the army. It's ridiculous. If I was in the army and found out my bunker-mate or whatever was a lesbian I'd be fine with it as long as they didn't try to hit on me or anything, which would be doubtful anyway .. people need to stop being such homophobes.

"As long as they don't try to hit on me or anything."
Meaning you would be put into an uncomfortable situation if something like that did happen.
That's why they don't allow it. . . . and why they want to keep the "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy.

Well no, for me it wouldn't be too uncomfortable .. 0_o I wouldn't think any different of them. I'd just politely ask them to stop. But I guess some people would feel uncomfortable.
